Privacy
The short version: the Macometer app doesn't collect anything about you or your Mac. Everything it reads stays on your Mac. This website collects as little as it can.

The Macometer app
Macometer has no account, no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reporting. It has no network service of its own.
What it reads
CPU, memory, GPU, Neural Engine, storage, network, power, temperature and sound output, and which apps and processes are using them. That includes process names, command lines, ports and code signatures. If you use coding agents, it reads their process details and the end of their local session logs, for each session's title and state, while Overview or Dev is open or the Agents menu bar item is on. It counts tokens from those logs only while the Dev page is open. Those titles and counts are shown to you, and go out through macometer agents and the MCP server's list_agents only when you or your assistant ask.
What it doesn't read
- Your documents. It never looks inside Desktop, Documents, Downloads, iCloud Drive or app containers.
- What you're listening to. It never records or stores audio. If you set an app's volume, that app's sound passes through Macometer in memory on its way to your speakers, so the level can change. Nothing is kept.
- Network addresses. It counts traffic per app and does not record who your Mac talks to.
- Environment variables, unless you press Show environment on a process in the Inspector or run
macometer process --env. The MCP server never returns them.
What it stores
A history of readings, in a database at ~/Library/Application Support/com.macometer.app/, kept for 90 days unless you choose 30 days, 6 months or a year. Anything older is deleted. It never leaves your Mac unless you export it as CSV yourself. Delete that folder and it's gone.
When it connects to anything
The version that exists today makes no network connections except ones you ask for, such as opening a local port in your browser.
Before release, two things will be added, and this page will be updated when they are. License activation will send your license key and a label for this Mac to Polar. Checking for updates will download an update feed, which like any such request shows the app's version and your macOS version.
The command line and MCP
The macometer command and MCP server talk to the running app over a local socket on your Mac. If you connect an AI assistant over MCP, what you ask it to read goes wherever that assistant sends it. That choice is yours, and Macometer doesn't edit any assistant's settings.
Permissions
It asks for no permissions when it starts. Notifications, audio capture, login items and helper approval are requested only after you turn on the feature that needs them. Audio capture exists to change an app's volume. Macometer doesn't record or measure audio. macOS also runs its usual check the first time you open anything you downloaded.
This website
There are no analytics, no cookies and no third-party scripts on this site. Fonts are served from this site too.
- Two preferences. If you choose light or dark, or pause the live readings, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It's never sent anywhere.
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel, whose servers keep ordinary request logs, such as IP address and browser, for a short time to run and protect the service.
- The app on the home page. It runs in your browser with simulated data. It doesn't read anything from your Mac.
Buying
Polar is the merchant of record and handles checkout, payment, tax and receipts. They collect what they need for that, under their own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address and order details so we can support you. We never see your card.
If you email us
We keep your message and address so we can answer you and refer back to it. We don't add you to a list. If you ask to hear when Macometer is out, we write to you once about that.
Your choices
Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Tax law may require us to keep some order records for a set time. Write to support@neonfrenchie.com.
Who we are
Macometer is made by Neon Frenchie LLC. Questions about this page go to support@neonfrenchie.com. If this page changes, the date at the top changes too.
